Coconut oil is one of my favorite oils to use, not only is it edible but the benefits for your skin are incredible. Due to the high saturated fat content of 82.50%, the oxidization process is slowed down allowing the oil if stored at 75 degree F (24 degree C) not to spoil for up to 6 months. Coconut oil also contains a fatty acid known as lauric acid the has natural antibacterial properties. So far not sounding to bad right? Lets continue and find out what other benefits coconut oil has for your skin.
Coconut oil has a natural SPF of 4. Don't use in place of sunscreen but the SPF will protect your skin from 75% of UV radiation for only about 45 minutes.
Natural Anti- Properties
The medium chain fatty acids/triglycerides (MCTs) that are in coconut oil have natural accruing antimicrobial, antiviral, and antibacterial properties allowing it to tackle fungal, yeast and bacteria infections. Coconut oil also has natural anti-inflammatory properties reducing redness, soothing inflamed, dry & itchy skin and is known to help with eczema.
Reduces Facial Wrinkles
Coconut oil deeply penetrates through all of the layers of skin allowing incredible moisture. The triglycerides attract the protein molecules, repairing the layer of collagen. This then strengthens the underlying skin tissues to help reduce and prevent wrinkles.
Coconut oil is very gentle making it safe for all no matter your age or skin type. The oil is safe enough for babies and even your furry friends. If your pets have dry itchy skin coconut oil will help and its safe if they lick it off. You may use coconut oil on your face, around your eyes and on you lips to keep them soft and silky smooth.
Prevents Premature Aging
The coconut oil creates a barrier for your skin protecting it from dust and other environmental pollutants. This barrier also seals in moisture to keep you skin smooth and promotes the formation of collagen.
