D.I.Y. Make-Up Cleaner/Daily and Deep Cleanser Spray Recipes

2 Minute Read

How often do you clean your make-up tools? If you didn't answer after each use, then listen up. When you apply the brush to your face, the brush picks up dirt and bacteria. If left uncleaned you transfer the dirt and bacteria into your make-up and back onto your skin. Repeatedly not cleaning your brushes over time will lead to blackheads, bacteria causing acne and a muddle looking make-up finish. Apply a daily make-up spray cleaner to your brushes after each use is a great way to keep bacteria away and extend the life of the brush. Clean brushes results in happy skin and a perfect finish. I have created a daily spray and a deep clean spray recipes. Couple tips before we begin: you want to always have a clean and sanitized work space and tools you are using. Sanitize with a alcohol, give a moment to dry so you don't transfer the alcohol scent into your product. Due to the essential oil make sure you are in a well ventilated room and do not use plastic. If using plastic make sure it is PET 1 material.

When purchasing ingredients try to stick to all natural organic. You don't want  to inadvertently put chemicals onto your skin through your brushes. I very much enjoy using Mountain Rose Herbs for organic ingredients. Okay are you ready here we go!

Step 1:

Pour 2.5 ounces ( 5 Tablespoons) of alcohol into bowl.

Step 2:

Add 1 ounce  ( 2 Tablespoons) of distilled water into alcohol.

Step 3:

Add 7 - 10 drops of your choice of antibacterial essential oil (Peppermint is very strong may want to shy away from this choice) to the mixture.

Step 4:

Stir and pour into spray bottle. Due to the essential oils use PET 1 Plastic or Glass

Make Up Brush labled - MotherEarth Inc.

Step 5:

Spray onto bristles but don't saturate them.

Step 6:

Wipe brushes back and forth on towel

Step 7:

Repeat step 6 until your it comes out clean

Step 8:

Rest the bristle over the edge of the counter to allow the water to dry out and not collect into the brushes ferrule. Water collecting in the ferrule can cause mold, bacteria and the bristles to fall out.

Let brushes dry completely before using again.
