7 Skin Sins
1 Minute Read
Did you know our skin is the largest living organ of the human body. Crazy right? I have put together 7 skin skins that you need to stop doing immediately!
#1 Sun Exposure
Even the best looking tan can be harmful if you're not protected. UV rays still penetrate cloud cover and can be just as harmful as direct sunlight. Too much UV can damage the genetic material in our skin. Over time the skin cells begin to grow out of control which may lead to skin cancer. Use sunscreen everyday all year long!
#2 Hydration (Not drinking enough water is bad for your entire body)
Did you know your skin is made up of 64% water? Not drinking enough water will over time lead to dry skin, wrinkles, acne and poor skin health. Drink 8-8 oz glasses of water a day. If that seems like a lot try infusing your water with fresh organic fruit. Mix it up be creative have some fun! My favorite is kiwi and strawberries.
#3 Using Synthetic Make-Up
Do you know what is in you make-up? If you cannot pronounce it or have never heard of it before, more than likely you do not want it on your skin. Your skin is a giant sponge absorbing everything you put onto your skin. Putting chemicals on your skin through make-up inadvertently absorbs into your body. Check the labels before you purchase your skin will thank you
#4 Not Cleaning your Phone
This one was an eye opener for me. We spend every day, all day on our phones but how often does your phone receive a good wipe down? Not enough is the answer. Dirt and bacteria are spread from your hands, to your phone and then to your face. Over time your pores become clogged leading to blackheads and acne.
#5 Picking your Skin
Do you want in on my secret? This is my biggest skin sin. Picking your skin causes scaring, increases heal time and raises the risk of infection. The dirt and bacteria under your fingernails spreads into your raw wound that was just picked and then BAM infection which causes scaring. Wash your hands more often and No Picking!!
#6 Going to Bed with Make-Up on
One time is not going to do harm, but multiple times begins to have consequences. The make-up, dead skin cells, bacteria and dirt from the day sets into your pores clogging them. Over time these clogged pores cause your skin to be unable to breath. In turn your skins pH balance is then disrupted and your skin is unable to absorb the required amount of moisture resulting in blackheads, acne and pimples. If this is a hard skin sin for you try keeping your make-up remover right next to your toothbrush to make it harder to forget!
#7 Forgetting to Clean you Tools
Every time you apply make-up your brushes pick up dirt and bacteria from your skin. When you go to put your make-up on next time your brushes will transfer the dirt and bacteria back on your face. You will not only get clogged pores and bacteria causing acne, but over time you will have a muddy finish. Clean your tools after each use with a daily brush cleaner spray, and deep clean your tools once a week.
I hope you have learned what not to do and have started to stop any skin sins that you may have been doing. Out of all of the skin sins, which is the hardest for you to stop?
